Authentic Discipleship

The great commissioning of Jesus Christ to his disciples was at the scene of the Ascension, where he mandated them to “go and make disciples of all nations.” We are all called to be his disciples, however sometimes it feels like we are just the fans of Jesus, much like the crowd in a football stadium. We merely admire Jesus but would not be ready to take up the cross and follow him. The cost of discipleship can be your very life, and therefore it is the challenge of Christian living that we must be prepared to give our life to the Lord. It is in partaking in his suffering and death that one can have the mark of true discipleship. We have this challenge to pay the full cost of discipleship to truly follow Jesus in his mission.
