About The Event
Gregorian Chant
The Sung Prayer of the Church
This three-hour introductory course explores the origins, theology, and living practice of Gregorian chant within the Catholic liturgy. Participants will discover how chant developed organically from the early Church’s prayer, why it holds a special place in the liturgy, and how it serves—not dominates—the worshipping community.
Through historical insights, guided listening, and simple practical exercises, participants will learn how to sing basic chants with confidence. The session aims to dispel misconceptions that chant is rigid, outdated, or imposed, instead presenting it as a humble, scriptural, and communal form of prayer that invites active participation.
