One discovery I made especially in the past 3 years is that the more we are filled by God's love, the lesser we feel we need and want in life, and the fuller we feel our lives to be. We definitely become more easily contented and happier. And then, and only then, can we be more interiorly available to be Jesus's disciples.
It is mostly a grace from God, which we can ask Him for, but we can play our part by making space in our lives for Him in different ways.
