After the council of Trente (1545-1563) devotion and mysticism flourish again a.o. in France. Not in the least because religious people from all sorts of order and congregations inspired others to sing again. A great stimulus was given by Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort who wrote more than 160 songs. In a simple style but with a lot of dynamism of all kinds of aspects of God's charity are sung about in his texts and melodies. This book contains an introduction and the comments of the cantiques
